U.S. President Donald Trump told the United Nations General Assembly that he faces a pivotal choice between launching military strikes or seeking a peace agreement with Iran, warning that he could "annihilate" the country if the conflict remains unresolved. The statement was delivered in New York during a day of intense diplomatic activity that included indirect negotiations between American and Iranian representatives.

Addressing a full chamber, Trump defended the ongoing conflict with Iran, which began when the U.S. and Israel initiated military action in February. He argued that the intervention prevented Tehran from acquiring nuclear capabilities and demonstrated his policy of peace through strength. While threatening overwhelming force, Trump stated he anticipated a potential agreement with Iran following November's U.S. midterm elections.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei noted that Tehran's conditions included a full cessation of hostilities and an end to U.S. aggression. In addition to addressing the Middle East, Trump signed a defense agreement with leaders from Denmark and Greenland to expand the U.S. military footprint on the North Atlantic island while reaffirming Greenland's sovereignty.
