US Coast Guard Searches for Missing Air Ambulance Jet Off Massachusetts Coast

The United States Coast Guard has launched a search and rescue operation for a Canadian-registered air ambulance jet carrying six people after it lost contact with aviation authorities during a flight from Bermuda to Boston early Saturday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a search-and-rescue alert notice at approximately 1:20 a.m. local time on Saturday for the missing Gulfstream G-100 aircraft. The plane had departed from LF Wade International Airport in Bermuda overnight, bound for Boston Logan International Airport in Massachusetts.

Aircraft Details and Onboard Passengers

According to Skyport, the operator of the Bermuda airport, the aircraft was carrying four crew members and two passengers. The jet was operating a medical evacuation flight out of Bermuda, according to Clarence Togeretz, director of flight operations at Latitude Air Ambulance, the aircraft's operator.

A spokesperson for the Massachusetts Port Authority confirmed that the flight failed to arrive as scheduled at Boston Logan International Airport. Reports indicate that no American citizens were onboard the plane, though official identities have not yet been publicly released.

Ongoing Search Operations

The search effort is concentrated off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts. Air and surface crews have been deployed to locate the missing jet as the FAA coordinates directly with the Rescue Coordination Center and the US Coast Guard.

Investigative sources suggest the aircraft experienced a rapid descent of 7,500 feet before entering the water, though official investigations into the cause of the disappearance remain ongoing.
