Tributes Paid to Healthcare Workers Killed in Fatal Western Victoria Crash
Friends and colleagues are mourning the deaths of married healthcare workers Michael Zheng, 38, and Angela Wang, 31, who died in a three-fatality crash in western Victoria. The collision occurred around 6:45 p.m. on September 27 in Ledcourt, approximately 300 kilometres west of Melbourne, involving the couple's vehicle, a Mitsubishi Triton driven by a learner driver, and a truck.
Mr Zheng and Ms Wang died at the scene. Another passenger in the Mitsubishi, 14-year-old Tenesha Fieldsend from Sale, later died in hospital. The teenager was returning from a volleyball tournament in Horsham with her family, where her LaTrobe Valley Volleyball team had won bronze in the under-17 girls division at the Victorian junior country championships. Sale Catholic College, where Tenesha was in Year 8, expressed deep grief following her loss.
Friends and Colleagues Mourn Loss
Mr Zheng and Ms Wang were Chinese nationals who had recently celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary and had lived in Horsham. They were granted Australian permanent residency last year. Mr Zheng worked as the manager of the Horsham Dentist Group after joining the clinic in March last year, while Ms Wang was a nurse at Grampians Health.
Colleagues at the dental practice expressed shock and sorrow over Mr Zheng's death. Clinic owner Catherine Feng and dentist Simon Yan described him as a warm, supportive colleague who was deeply respected by his team. Friend JingJing Tang noted that the couple was building a new home in Ballarat and had hopes of starting a family.
Police Investigation Ongoing
Victoria Police confirmed that the investigation into the multi-vehicle crash in Ledcourt remains ongoing. No additional details regarding the cause of the collision have been released.
