Motorcyclists Attempt World Record at Alice Springs Pub During Red CentreNATS

A world record attempt to ride the highest number of motorcycles through a pub fell just short in Alice Springs, where 107 riders passed through Bojangles Saloon. Organized as part of the annual Red CentreNATS festival, participants aimed to reach a target of 125 motorbikes inside the venue.

The event attracted spectators who gathered behind barricades to watch a variety of commuters and muscle bikes fill the venue with engine noise and exhaust fumes. The procession was led by David Walsh, a winner of the Finke Desert Race, who noted the great atmosphere despite his initial nervousness about participating.

Community Impact and Future Prospects

Red CentreNATS representative Laura Johnson described the turnout as a strong achievement for the festival, expressing confidence that a future attempt at the four-day event would surpass the target. The festival, which is the Northern Territory's counterpart to Canberra's Summernats, features numerous automotive and motorcycle activities.

Riders travelled from various regions to participate, including Harley Hall, a Ngarrindjeri Kokatha-Wirangu man from South Australia representing the 3% motorbike group, which highlights Australia's Indigenous population. Bojangles Saloon owner Pearl Randhay welcomed the spectacle, stating that the gathering brought energy to the town and went smoothly. In addition to the entertainment, the record attempt raised funds for the Butterfly Connection, a charity supporting central Australian residents who must travel interstate for medical treatment.
