CFMEU Union Delegate Charged Over Alleged Construction Site Drug Ring

A 35-year-old CFMEU delegate from Mulgrave has been charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences following an investigation into corruption within Melbourne's construction industry. Officers from Taskforce Hawk executed early morning search warrants on Thursday at properties in Mulgrave, Heathmont, and Fitzroy, leading to the arrest of three individuals.

Allegations and Seized Items

Authorities allege the group imported illicit drugs and steroids through the mail system before distributing them at construction sites throughout Melbourne. During the raids, police confiscated substantial quantities of peptides and steroids, alongside cash, drug paraphernalia, electronic devices, cannabis, cocaine, and MDMA. Law enforcement officers also seized weapons including OC spray, two extendable batons, and a taser.

Charges and Court Proceedings

The 35-year-old union delegate faces multiple charges, including trafficking anabolic steroids, possession of a drug of dependence, possession of prescription medication, and possessing both controlled and prohibited weapons. A 32-year-old Fitzroy man was also charged with trafficking anabolic steroids, drug possession, possessing a prohibited weapon, and dealing with the proceeds of crime. Both men were granted bail and are scheduled to face the Melbourne Magistrates' Court in January. An 18-year-old woman from Fitzroy was released on a summons.
